SBTi to update its target dashboard as five-year review rules take effect
The Science Based Targets initiative will revise its public Target Dashboard on 24 September 2026 to align with a new Commitment and Target Status Document and improve data consistency. From September 2026, that document supersedes the previous Commitment Compliance Policy, adding status subcategories that show where a company stands in its target cycle — relevant context for SMEs facing target-setting requests from larger customers.
Study probes whether a longer growing season boosts forest carbon uptake

Sitra: Finland's circular-economy firms show resilience but a two-tier field
A Sitra analysis of roughly 240 companies that applied to its circular-economy lists found the sector is split: while some are small or early-stage firms that have exited, many have held steady or grown in core areas such as recycling, resource efficiency and product-life extension. Finland's forest carbon sink likely overstated in official scenarios, Syke tool finds
A Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) tool indicates the forest carbon sink is significantly overestimated in Finland's official scenarios. Under a fresh estimate, carbon neutrality by 2035 would require annual stemwood harvests of around 60–62 million cubic metres — down from an earlier figure of about 80 million cubic metres — if the land-use sector is to deliver a net sink of roughly 21 Mt CO2-eq.
Swedish agencies propose national nature-restoration plan with 201 measures
Five Swedish authorities have submitted a draft national restoration plan containing 201 measures to help nature recover and become more resilient to a harsher climate, covering urban greenery, marine habitats, and lakes and watercourses. The proposal feeds a government plan due to the European Commission by 1 September 2026, with final decisions on national plans expected a year later.

The Web Sustainability Guidelines — now in their ninth draft with 94 recommendations to help teams build more sustainable digital products and services — are set to be published as an official W3C Note in 2026 after horizontal review.
